Duluth police are investigating a shooting which resulted in one person being hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries - but only after the vehicle the 18 year-old male was traveling in was involved in a collision Friday afternoon.
The Duluth police responded to a collision with injuries at the intersection of 10th Avenue East and Third Street around 2:47 p.m. Occupants of one of the vehicles told officers the rear-seat passenger had been shot prior to the crash and they were taking him to a hospital, a news release said.
“It is believed the shooter and victim were known to each other and at this time we do not believe there is any threat to the public whatsoever,” DPD shift commander Lt. Chuck O’Connor said. “We are unsure if there are any injuries due to the crash itself, but it appears to be just one victim of the shooting.”
According to O’Connor, there is no suspect in custody at this time.
