One of the top leaders of the Duluth-based 148th Fighter Wing has been sacked for what a Minnesota National Guard spokesman called "an unprofessional relationship."
Col. John H. Spencer Jr. was relieved of his position as vice wing commander on Wednesday, according to a statement from National Guard spokesman Lt. Col. Kevin Olson.
The move stemmed from allegation that surfaced in July, according to the statement. "After a thorough investigation from an unbiased outside source, this allegation was found to be substantiated," Olson said. He didn't describe the nature of the allegations.
Spencer was placed on administrative leave pending assignment to another position, Olson said. "The Minnesota National Guard stands strong behind a zero tolerance of unprofessional relationships," he said.
