Frances K. Ink of Hot Springs Village, Ark., formerly of Duluth, will celebrate her 100th birthday with a gathering of family from across the country at her home.
Frances was born June 24, 1908, to Andrew and Rose Ring and grew up in Duluth. She attended Lakeside School, Central High School and business school in Duluth. She married Lewis F. Ink; they lived at 6201 E. Superior St. in Duluth. Lewis was an avid golfer and worked at Minnesota Power; he died in January 1997.
Frances and Lewis' children are Sue Waide of Hot Springs Village; Carol Marshall of Sun City, Ariz.; Steve and Laimi Ink of St. Charles, Ill.; and the late RE Waide. Their grandchildren are Robert and Jeanette Marshall of Superior; David and Deena Marshall of Duluth; Peter and Peggy Marshall of Phoenix; Wendy and Mark Robinson of Golden Valley, Minn.; and Andreas and Stefan Ink of St. Charles. Their great-grandchildren are Michael and Nicole Marshall of San Diego; Jason and Chrissy Marshall, Sara and Emily Marshall and Maddy Blom, all of Duluth; Monika and Giselle Marshall of Superior, Jenni and Dustin Draper of El Mirage, Ariz.; Trisha Marshall of Phoenix; and Jacqueline and Max Robinson of Golden Valley.
Fran worked as secretary to the St. Louis County Superintendent of Schools. She was an active volunteer for the Girl Scouts, YWCA, Flower Garden Society, St. Luke's, Women's Institute, a member of PEO, Matron of Honor in Eastern Star and also taught Sunday school at Lakeside Presbyterian Church. She has inspired her children and grandchildren to share her love of gardening and according to her family is "the most kind and loving person you could ever hope to meet!"
