Tracy Nevala of Superior and Derek Walker of Minong plan to be married Aug. 1 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Superior.
Her parents are Randy and Karen Nevala of Foxboro. His parents are John and Kathy Walker of Minong.
The future bride, a 1999 graduate of Superior Senior High School, graduated from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in 2006 with a medical assistant diploma and certification. She is a certified medical assistant at St. Mary's Duluth Clinic.
The future groom, a 2001 graduate of Northwood High School in Minong, works for Walker Lumber in Minong.

Last summer I met a new co-worker who set me up on a blind date with her brother.
Before our first date, Derek and I talked on the phone first to get to know each other a little. I knew it was a good sign when we ended up talking for two hours! We had a wonderful first date and we never wanted it to end.
In the days and weeks ahead we spent practically all of our free time together, all the while knowing our relationship was developing into something very special.
After being together for only five months, Derek proposed to me on Christmas night. He told me I was the one he'd been waiting for and I felt the same way. It was the most memorable Christmas I've ever had!
