Nancy Ness and Gary Platteter, both of Duluth, were married July 7 in St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Duluth.
Love online
Almost four years ago, I met the true love of my life.
Gary and I met on an Internet site for seniors (we are now both hovering around 70). Our first date was at Arby's in Kenwood. We quickly discovered that we had so much in common and were both longing for a special person in our life. It wasn't long before we realized we had found that in each other.
Our wedding day could not have been a more perfect summer day. I was escorted down the isle by my daughters, Beth Olson and Susan Cooper. I was also blessed to have my 88-year-old mother, June Ness, there with us. My sister and best friend Betsy Strom served as my matron of honor. Deacon Dennis Anderson officiated.

What made the ceremony extra special was that Gary had his grandson, Mike Johnson, stand up as his best man. Mike is special to Gary as he was his first grandson, but also lived with him for a while as a very young child. Gary's three daughters, Liz Johnson, Shelly Shirley and Missy Hajovy, along with their families, were also there to help us celebrate this wonderful day.
We celebrated with a reception at Ridgeview Country Club (what a lovely setting for a reception!) and then we honeymooned at the Rittenhouse in Bayfield.
I wake up every day and thank God for bringing this wonderful man into my life. We look forward to getting old(er) together!
