U of M hosts online gardening class for kids

Class is free and runs 2-4 p.m. Wednesdays, June 3 through Aug. 26.

The 4-H Healthy Sprouts is a free online summer gardening program hosted for students enrolled in K-12.

It’s hosted by the University of Minnesota, and topics covered are how to care for and grow your own food, how to make a healthy snack, an exploration of food-related careers, and a hands-on STEM project.

Class is free and runs 2-4 p.m. Wednesdays, June 3 through Aug. 26. Spots are limited, and registration is required at Z.umn.edu/healthysprouts .

Participants must have access to seeds and tools; a device in which to access the internet; and a garden of some kind at a community site, in pots at home, etc.
