St. Lukeās is in need of individual activity items for hospitalized patients. The current supplies are extremely low. St. Lukeās Foundation is asking for donations of various items for patients of all ages. Items requested include: childrenās toys (no small pieces), crayons, coloring books, puzzles, books, games that can be played solo, small radios and phone chargers. All donated goods can be dropped off at St. Lukeās Foundation, 1000 E. First St., Suite 102, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Donated items will be sanitized and quarantined prior to patient use or (when appropriate) redistribution. Call Meagan Avery, Development Associate, at 218-249-2543.
American Red Cross blood drives: To make an appointment or for more information, download the Red Cross blood donor app, visit redcrossblood.org , call 800-733-2767 or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device. From now through Jan. 31, Memorial Blood Centers will test all donations for antibodies to COVID-19. Visit the website to learn more.
Carlton High School is banding together to save the Carlton VFW Post #2962, a community staple that has been open since 1934. It's in danger of closing due to lost revenue from the COVID-19 pandemic. A GoFundMe page, Save the Carlton VFW, has been sent up with a goal of raising $10,000 in hopes of saving the Post and preserving it for years to come.
AEOA's Meals on Wheels program is in need of volunteer drivers on Tuesdays and every other Friday. Delivery times begin between 9:30-10 a.m. with an approximate delivery time of 1 to 1 ½ hours.
