'An outsized impact'
An employee of a Duluth business has received statewide recognition for the sort of work that often goes unnoticed.
Sharon Johnston, who provides respite support to children and families with Tender Loving Care, received the AARM Cares Award last week in a ceremony at Duluth City Hall. Johnston, who has worked as a disability service provider for three years, was among six honored with the distinction statewide among more than 20,000 eligible professionals.
AARM stands for the Association of Residential Resources of Minnesota, which represents more than 200 Minnesota providers.
"Sharon has an outsized impact on the individuals and the families she supports for the time she has with them," said Kevin Johnson, chief administrative officer for Tender Loving Care, according to a news release from ARRM. "She makes the most of every minute she has with the people she supports, and is a result she is strengthening the overall level of care and support they receive."
The honor was bestowed as part of Direct Support Professionals Appreciation Week.
