Bent Paddle Brewing Company's Roasty Toasty Porter was named Best in Show and winner in the Brown Ale & Porter category at the MN Brewer's Cup, a blind tasting of more than 450 beers from 85 breweries and brew pubs in Minnesota, the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild announced in a news release.

Beers were tasted by 20 judges using Beer Judge Certification Program guidelines. There was an industry-only event on Thursday night where the award-winning breweries were announced.

Two local breweries took top honors in the Belgian & Monastic Ale competition: Canal Park Brewing won with its Lone Trekker, followed by Blacklist Brewing Co.'s Or de Belgique. Canal Park Brewing's Herrnberger Dunkel was second for Dark Lagers.

Ursa Minor Brewing's Constellation Cream was the second-best American Wheat & Cream Ale and Equanimity was No. 2 for English Bitter, Irish & Scottish Ales.

Relative local newbie Warrior Brewing Company took third place for its Barbarian in the Imperial Stout & Baltic Porter category.

Bent Paddle also took second place for its Cold Press Black Ale in the Spice, Herb & Vegetable Beer category and third for its Pay It Forward in the American Pale Ale category.
