Jersey Mike’s brings ‘the juice’ to Duluth: Sandwich shop to open this month
A sandwich shop that bills itself as serving “a sub-above” is scheduled to open on Central Entrance later this month.
Jersey Mike’s is known for its juice — a blend of red wine vinegar and olive oil — and prides itself on fresh veggies, daily-made bread, meat and cheese that is sliced on demand. It opens Dec. 12 at 905 W. Central Entrance in the strip mall near Shopko.
Franchise owner Michael Schoonover is holding a grand opening and free sub fundraiser between opening day and Dec. 16. The shop’s keepers are circulating coupons offering a free sandwich to anyone who donates at least $2 to Hermantown High School. Customers must have the coupon.
The chain’s first restaurant, originally called Mike’s Subs, opened in Point Pleasant, N.J., in the mid-1950s. There are more than 1,500 shops open or scheduled to open, according to the company’s website.
