A small shop that has its roots in juicing has opened a second spot downtown. Juice Pharm, at 31 W. First St. No. 303 in the Skywalk next door to Lady Ocalat, announced opening day via social media on Monday morning.
Giselle Hernandez and Desiree Jenkins opened the original Juice Pharm at 12. S. 15th Ave. E. in 2017 with a mix of smoothies, juices, acai bowls and small vegan plates - tacos made with walnut chorizo, lettuce cups with Thai-seasoned tempeh filling, curried chickpeas and avocado toast. It's Duluth's only vegan restaurant.
The downtown shop is more juice and smoothie-centric, with acai bowls and smoothie bowls. The rush continued well into the afternoon on its first day, and an hour before closing, they had already cashed out on peanut butter. Seemingly, the PB&J Acai Bowl - acai, blueberries, strawberries, house-made peanut butter, bananas, granola, coconut, chia seeds, local honey - was a popular order.
