Less than an hour before it was scheduled to begin, the Modest Mouse concert at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center was canceled Tuesday.

“Tonight’s Modest Mouse show in Duluth has been canceled. The band apologizes to its fans in Duluth and hopes to return soon. Refunds will be available at point of purchase,” Modest Mouse announced on Twitter at 6:13 p.m. The concert was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

In a separate tweet, the DECC apologized to “all guests who have traveled near and far.”

DECC employees found out about the cancellation just minutes before it was announced - DECC Executive Director Chelly Townsend said they were called backstage just before guests began to show. Staff members would be at all DECC entrances to let people know who have yet to hear about the cancellation, Townsend said.
Anyone who purchased tickets can go straight to their point of purchase for a refund, such as Ticketmaster, other online vendors or the DECC itself.

Opening acts Termination Dust and Grandad performed a free show at the Red Herring Lounge in downtown Duluth on Tuesday night. "#goodnewsforpeoplewholovebadnews," the Red Herring posted on Facebook.

On Monday, Modest Mouse also canceled a show in La Crosse, Wis. at the last minute. The La Crosse Tribune reported that the band notified the officials at the La Crosse Center at about 5 p.m. ahead of the 7:30 show, citing “unforeseen circumstances.”
