A Utah movie company has descended on Marshall School in Duluth to shoot an independent film with some well-known actors.
The movie "Christmas Break-in" will star Danny Glover, Denise Richards and Cameron Seely.
Glover is known best for his role as Roger Murtaugh in the "Lethal Weapon" franchise. Richards is best known for her role as Carmen Ibanez in "Starship Troopers." Seely, who is 9 years old, played Hugh Jackman's youngest daughter in the recent movie "The Greatest Showman."
In the film, Seely plays Izzy, whose parents can't pick her up on time on the last day of school before Christmas break. A blizzard complicates the matter, but not as much as a pair of bad guys who are freezing in an ice cream truck. Glover, the school's janitor, is kidnapped by the intruders, and it is up to Seely's character to save the day, according to a news release.
The crew started filming at Marshall School on Monday and will continue to do so over the next three weeks during non-school hours. The movie company, Koan Inc., specifically selected Marshall School and Duluth because they needed a school blanketed in snow. The state's "Snowbate" rebate program for film and TV productions also aided the decision.

"We could have chosen anywhere with snow, (but) working with Snowbate made our decision to film in Minnesota easy," Gil Aglaure, the film's executive producer, said in a news release.
Marshall School students, teachers and parents are serving as extras in the film, which has a goal release date of early December.
