When Duluth’s Savers received a large donation of ballet slippers, including pointe shoes, Paige Kohler bought the whole bunch. Now the teacher from the School of the Minnesota Ballet plans to donate the shoes to Leap of Dance Academy in Nigeria through the nonprofit organization Traveling Tutus Inc.
“I’ve spent a good deal of money to purchase these, and they’ll cost quite a bit to ship to Florida as well,” said Kohler, who is seeking donations to help cover the cost. Donations can be made out to Paige Kohler c/o Minnesota Ballet, 230 W. Superior St. Suite 50, Duluth, MN 55802.
According to its website, the goal for Leap of Dance Academy - run by Daniel Owoseni Ajala - is to have a world-class academy with a cultural exchange, including teachers and students.
