  • Gobble Gallop: Duluth Running Co. needs volunteers to help with this year's Gobble Gallop on Nov. 22 (Thanksgiving Day) in Duluth. Volunteers will be needed to stuff athlete packets from 3-7 p.m. Nov. 20 and to help with packet pick-up from 2-8 p.m. Nov. 21. Volunteers are needed on race day from 7-10:30 a.m. to help with the pre-race packet pick-up, set-up, race directing/crowd control, athlete food/post-race help, and take-down.

    Most volunteers are needed on Thanksgiving morning. Volunteers will be provided with food and drink, long-sleeved shirts and extra race goodies. Contact Mike Ward at (763) 607-4020 or mike@duluthrunning.com.

  • Academic mentorship: Valley Youth Centers seeks positive adult role models to serve as mentors for K-8 students.

    Potential mentors must be at least 16 and commit to serving one hour per week for a minimum of 10 weeks with the same child. Mentors will need to pass a background check and submit two reference forms. Training will be provided before meeting with students. Contact Russ Salgy at rsalgy@copelandvalley.org.

  • On-call advocate: The Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse uses on-call volunteers to provide support to sexual assault and/or domestic violence victims after business hours during medical examinations. Training is provided. Volunteers must have transportation and proof of insurance. Mileage is reimbursed. Contact Erika Leif at (715) 392-3136 or erika@casda.org.
  • Christmas intake: The Duluth Salvation Army seeks volunteers to assist the emergency services case worker with Christmas applications, which includes interviewing prospective clients for Christmas assistance. Volunteers must be friendly, polite, professional and able to follow verbal instructions. This position requires repetitive use of the upper body, sitting, reaching, bending and excellent penmanship. Client confidentiality at all times is necessary. All volunteers must complete volunteer application, pass background check and be willing to support the mission of the Salvation Army.
