Cloquet featured a balanced offensive attack for a 38-6 road victory over Proctor on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021 at Terry Egerdahl Field.
The Lumberjacks accumulated yards with the run and the pass and scored twice on the ground and twice through the air.
Cloquet scored on its first two drives, which culminated on short runs from Alec Turnbull (1 yard) and Marshall Hayes (4 yards). Alec Turnbull then took to the air, connecting on a 63-yard throw-and-catch with Reese Sheldon for a 21-0 lead early in the third quarter.
Proctor moved the ball deep into Cloquet territory late in the half, only for a big hit from Lance Konietzko to disloge the ball into the hands of Will Turnbull, who rumbled 87 yards to the house for a 28-0 halftime lead.
Alec Turnbull added a second TD pass, to Hayes, in the third quarter before Dayne Painovich added a fourth-quarter field goal to his five made extra points.
Carter St. Germaine hit Blake Imhoff for a 12-yard TD pass and a Proctor consolation score in the fourth quarter. The Rails (0-1) play at Hibbing next Friday, while Cloquet (1-0) plays at Duluth Denfeld.
