Blake Juhl rushed for 74 yards and scored two touchdowns as Class AA fifth-ranked Moose Lake-Willow River beat Class AAA No. 7 Aitkin 20-0 in a battle of high school football unbeatens Friday night at Aitkin.

In a game controlled by the defenses, the Rebels (4-0) allowed just 71 yards rushing and 12 yards passing.

Cole Ketola, Marshall Hayes and Derek Rengo ran for two touchdowns apiece in the Lumberjacks’ Northeast Red District road win.

Ketola rushed for 126 yards while Hayes gained 122 yards.Cloquet outgained the Bluejackets 365 yards to 91 on the ground.

In addition to the two TDs, Rengo hauled in an interception as Hibbing turned the ball over four times, including three fumbles.

Ninth-ranked Superior fell from the ranks of the undefeated with the Big Rivers Conference loss at Hudson.

The Spartans led 24-21 at halftime, but couldn’t stop the Raiders in the second half as they allowed 28 unanswered points to fall to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

The Spartans took a 7-0 lead on Cody Kurki’s 87-yard fumble return with 47 seconds left in the first quarter.

The teams combined for 39 points in the second quarter, which ended with Superior’s Kaden Kimmes throwing a 35-yard TD pass to Brady Herbst with no time left on the clock.

The ninth-ranked Tigers failed to score on their first drive of the game, but then scored every time after that to remain undefeated at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Heart O’ North Conference.

The Tigers, who lost a fumble inside the 5-yard line the game’s first drive, were led Jake Brill’s three touchdown passes to Dayne Evanson.

The Tigers also got two short TD runs and six extra-point kicks from Isaac Nichols; Titus Graden blocked a punt in the end zone for a safety; and Greg Ohman scored late.

Bryce Jenness, a special needs student listed as Barron’s team manager, scored for the Golden Bears on a 40-yard run in the fourth quarter.
