Wes Drummond, whose recent credits include assisting director Matthew Warchus in a production of A Christmas Carol” that moved from The Old Vic in London to Broadways Lyceum Theatre in 2019, has been named the Duluth Playhouse's new executive director.

Christine Gradl Seitz has been the theater’s executive and artistic director for 21 years. Her plans to retire, announced in August 2019, were sidelined during the pandemic. She will stay with the playhouse through the transition, according to a news release from its board of directors.

Drummond, who also assisted Tony Award-nominated director Michael Greif in a production of “Make Believe” at Second Stage Theater, will lead with Phillip Fazio, who is the playhouse's producing artistic director.

Drummond graduated from Penn State with a Master of Fine Arts degree in direction and was the resident artistic director at the McLeod Summer Playhouse in Illinois.

At the Duluth Playhouse, his role will include fundraising, financial planning, donor relations, patron services and marketing.
