Gag Me With a Spoon is now accepting submissions for the 2020 season — a twist on the way the community storytelling event has worked in the past.

The series will feature a curated collection of 10 pre-selected stories, which storytellers will present in front of an audience in May at Teatro Zuccone. The best story wins a $500 prize.

Rules: Stories can be no longer than 10 minutes; All topics are fair game, but no bigotry; The more personal the better.

Deadline is April 1.

Send submissions to in video, audio or written form.

Gag Me With a Spoon was started by Adeline Wright, who also hosts, as an intimate Moth podcast-style of open mic event. A News Tribune feature from this past summer noted a night's topics as ranging from menstruation at middle age, working as a server in a strip club, Milwaukee cockroaches and more.
