Art academy to display works

Great Lakes Academy of Fine Art’s three-day student/instructor exhibition will include samples of work and live demonstrations.

The event is 5-9 p.m. May 18, 1-7 p.m. May 19 and noon-3 p.m. May 20 at 810 W. Third St. Free, open to the public. Some pieces will be for sale.

Artist Jeffrey T. Larson turned an old church, scheduled for demolition, into a four-year fine arts academy based on the European atelier system. Students learn Classical impressionism. The founder’s son, Brock Larson, is also an artist and teaches at the academy.

The school is in its second year of operation.
