The Great Northern Radio Show gets one more run before an indefinite hiatus, according to creator and host Aaron Brown.

Billed as a traveling variety show, it will play at 5 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Hibbing High School Auditorium. The show’s guests will include Iron Range bluegrass-country-roots musician Jillian Rae and Sugar on the Roof, an old-timey band. “The Great Northern Radio Show” is a blend of comedy, stories and music centered on life in Northern Minnesota. It’s produced by Northern Community Radio, an independent NPR affiliate.

The show is on hiatus while Brown, an author, blogger and instructor at Hibbing Community College, works on another book and a podcast.

According to Brown, the show has broadcast 32 live events from 21 Minnesota towns and guests have included Charlie Parr, Ingeborg von Agassiz, The Latelys, Reina del Cid and Actual Wolf. It features dozens of actors, including Jason and Louisa Scorich.

The show will air live on 91.7 FM KAXE in Grand Rapids, Aitkin and the Iron Range, 90.5 FM KBXE Bagley and Bemidji, 89.9 FM Brainerd, and 103.9 FM in Ely. It can also be found at greatnorthernradioshow.org.
