Phil Vassar, Chris Kroeze to play during Grandma's Marathon weekend
A country singer-songwriter who came onto the scene in the 1990s is part of a lineup that includes a local act and a returning act at the Big Top during Grandma's Marathon weekend, race officials announced Thursday.
Phil Vassar, who got his start with co-writing credits for artists like Tim McGraw and Alan Jackson, has had 26 Top 40 hits, including "Just Another Day in Paradise," "Six-Pack Summer" and "My Next Thirty Years." He will play June 21 in Canal Park.
Saturday night's big name is Chris Kroeze, who was the runner-up on NBC's "The Voice" last season.
Also playing: Everette, Rhino, Rock-A-Billy Revue, Laura Velvet and the Bookhouse Boys, Chris Kroeze and Cowboy Mouth. Tickets for Rock the Big Top are $10 for single day tickets Friday and Saturday, and $15 for both nights through April 30. Then prices increase. Go to www.grandmasmarathon.com.
