Mary Jeanne Krause, 92, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Aug. 8 to rejoin her beloved Jack.

Born on Feb. 12, 1922 in Mankato to George and Agnes Swanson, Mary had two younger sisters Margaret and Muriel. After graduating from Mankato State College in 1944 she became a newspaper reporter. She followed her career to the Hibbing Tribune where she met Jack Krause. They were married in 1953 and settled in Chisholm. Throughout their lives in Chisholm Mary and Jack were very involved in civic activities such as community development projects, PTA, scouts and especially their tireless work for the Minnesota Museum of Mining. After retirement they enjoyed traveling to visit family, friends and the wide wide world.

Mary was a writer, an artist, a teacher, a gardener, a lover of the great outdoors and of her book clubs. Her greatest treasure was her four children, Peter, Kate, Greg and Peg, and her seven grandchildren, Linnea, Olivia, Chris, Michael, Ryan, Pat and Jonathan all of whom continue on this mortal plane.

Mary's cremated remains will join Jack's beneath the red pines of the northern forest.

The family expresses sincere thanks to all those who cared for Mary in her final years. Dr Ipsen and his Mt Royal Clinic staff, Daniela, her personal nurse, Tanya and her team at Pioneer Bank and the kind and caring staff of the Pines, St Ann's and Bayshore Residences and Health Centers.
