In observance of Veterans Day on Wednesday, veteran organizations around the Twin Ports area have planned a few events to honor those who served.
In Duluth, a ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at Memorial Park, 5315 Grand Ave. Keynote speakers will include U.S. Rep. Pete Stauber. The event is sponsored by Veterans United for Freedom.
Up the shore, the public is invited to attend the first flag raising of a 30-foot flag pole in Knife River. The ceremony will take place at noon at the Knife River Heritage and Cultural Center on American Dock Road. The Two Harbors American Legion Post 109 will conduct the ceremony. An event flyer asks those attending physically distance.
In Superior, a ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center. The center and American Legion Post 435 are holding a short "flag of remembrance" ceremony with remarks. Event hosts ask those attending to wear face masks and physically distance.
The Bong Veterans Historical Center will also provide free general admission to all veterans on Wednesday.
