Veterans' Memorial Hall invites the public to the annual Veterans Remembrance Dinner on Thursday, Dec. 5.
The event begins with a social hour at 5:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center, 506 W. Michigan Street, and will end by 8:00 p.m.
The focus of this year's event is the Grand Opening of the new Albert J. Amatuzio Research Center and to recognize Mr. Amatuzio for making the center possible. This research center includes photographs, journals, stories, and biographies of veterans from northeastern Minnesota who served this nation from the Civil War through Iraq and Afghanistan.
The keynote speaker will be Col. Penny Dieryck, who will talk about her work as the Mission Support Group Commander of the 148th Fighter Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard, Duluth. Dieryck is also a support officer as a federal military technician at the 148th Fighter Wing. Dieryck began her military career in April 1980, when she enlisted in the Minnesota Air National Guard.
Also spotlighted will be the presentation of the Mike Colalillo Medal of Honor Scholarship, this year in the amount of $1,000, to this year's

winner.
Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at the Veterans' Memorial Hall office at the St. Louis County Heritage and Arts Center or reserved by calling (218) 733-7500.
This community-based event is being sponsored by many leading local businesses. The Arrowhead Professional Chefs Association will prepare the dinner and donate these services.
Proceeds from the event will help support the Veterans' Memorial Hall program of the St. Louis County Historical Society.
Veterans' Memorial Hall was established in 1909 and is a program of the St. Louis County Historical Society. It is the mission of Veterans' Memorial Hall to preserve and collect veterans' stories and artifacts and to educate the general public about the history of veterans from northeastern Minnesota.
