A week's worth of outdoor recreation activities have been planned for Feb. 5-12 as part of Duluth's Cold Front 2021. The events this year will look a little different due to the COVID-19 pandemic and some will require online registration to participate.

Events include:

  • Dog sledding with Silver Creek Sled dogs, 10 a.m. to noon and 12:45-1:45 p.m. Feb. 6. Those wishing to participate must register by 4 p.m. Feb. 2 to be entered into a lottery. They will be notified by Feb. 4.
  • Yeti Hunt, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 7. A yeti is on the loose in a city park. Starting at 10 a.m., clues will be released hourly on the Duluth Parks MN Facebook page and Instagram to lead participants to the correct park. Participants must take a photo of/with the yeti and post it to social media to be entered into a drawing for prizes.
  • Citywide snow-building extravaganza, Feb. 8. Put your creativity and snow sculpting skills to the test in a local park. Share photos of creations on social media with the hashtag #ColdFront2021 to enter a drawing to win a prize.
  • Winter wonderland equipment pop-up, 3-7 p.m. Feb. 9. Snowshoes, sleds, golf discs and headlamps will be available for checkout and free use on the Enger Park Golf Course. Participants must register for a time slot to ensure appropriate gathering size and allow for equipment availability. Registration opens Feb. 1.
  • Agents of Discovery, 1-7 p.m. Feb. 10. Use Parks and Recreation's new educational app in Bayfront Park to try out a detective mission. The app is designed for families with kids ages 6-14. Staff will be on hand to assist participants.
  • Luminary walk, 5-8 p.m. Feb. 11. A candlelit walk along the Lakewalk between Fitger's and Canal Park.
  • BAE-front Valentine's Skate, 3-7 p.m. Feb. 12. A Valentine's Day skate at the Bayfront Family Center's ice rink with a love song playlist, take-home craft and themed picture frame photo booth.
