Organists guild sponsor Wednesday midday recitals during Lent

The Arrowhead Chapter of the American Guild of Organists invites the public to listen to Lenten organ music in the middle of the day on Wednesdays during this Lenten season. Organ recitals are scheduled at 12:15-12:45 p.m. every Wednesday until April 15. 

The the schedule is as follows:

  • March 12 Tom Hamilton and William Percy will play at 1956 Moeller at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1710 E. Superior St.
  • March 19: Rachael Kresha will play a 1956 Moeller at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 2310 E. Fourth St.
  • March 26:Jason Branham will play a 2011 Jaeckel at First Lutheran Church, 1100 E. Superior St.
  • April 2: Alan Berg will play a 1951 Wicks at Elim Lutheran Church, 6101 Cody St. 
  • April 9: David Larson, who is celebrating 50 years of service to Hope Lutheran Church, will play a 1987 Rodgers. Hope Lutheran Church is located at 4093 Munger Shaw Road, Cloquet. Also on April 9 there will be a Lenten service with Pastor David Schoessow and organist Samuel Black at Christ Lutheran Church, 320 N. 28th E., Superior. Black will play a 1995 Jaeckel. 
  • April 16: Samuel Black will play an 1883 Hook and hastings at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 227 Third St., Two Harbors.

A free-will offering will be received at each recital to benefit the Arrowhead Chapter’s Organ Scholarship Fund established to encourage the development of young organists.
