  • Circle of Hope Fundraiser. For every new client who files their taxes with H&R Block or Block Advisors between January and April and mentions Circle of Hope, $20 will be donated to Circle of Hope. The total donation amount is unlimited.
  • Classic Horse Movie Night Fundraiser for the Duluth Area Horse Trail Alliance hosted by Zeitgeist Teatro, 222 E. Superior St., Duluth, 5-8 p.m. Thursday showing the 1979 epic movie, “The Black Stallion.” A silent auction will be held prior to the film from 5-6 p.m. Tickets are $10 per adult and $5 per child 15 and younger. Tickets can be purchased through zeitgeistarts.com or at the door.
  • The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center is hosting, Escape the Bong, brought to you by Heritage Window and Door, Feb. 7-9. Escape the Bong is a three-day event featuring multiple escape rooms that will test your deduction and puzzle solving skills. Each room is designed for an hour of problem solving fun. Each room has its own unique mission and experience. Thursday, Feb. 7, is kids days with special pricing all day. Friday and Saturday the center will have extended hours, and after 5 p.m. guests will be able to grab a cold beverage to enhance their escape room experience. You will be able to have up 10 people per group. Smaller groups may be combined to fill out a group of 10. All the funds raised from the three-day event will go to the education programs of the Center. Visit BongCenter.org for pricing, time slots and registration.
  • Memorial Blood Centers will offer the following blood drives across the Northland. Call (888) GIVE-BLD (448-3253) or go to mbc.org for eligibility guidelines and to schedule an appointment.

  • From Jan. 12-27, Damiano Center is hosting a winter clothing drive at Trailfitters, 600 E. Superior St., Duluth. Bring in your lightly used winter boots, coats, hats, snow pants and other items to donate and receive 10% off an item at Trailfitters. Trailfitters will also donate a pair of socks for every pair of socks purchased in that time frame.
  • Circle of Hope is looking for charity runners through Grandma’s Marathon to help meet their goal of $10,000 with each runner raising a minimum of $400. To qualify as a charity runner, contact the charity of your choice via CrowdRise page. Include your full name, email and phone number so the organization can send you the guidelines to review; agree to the fundraising commitment and create a fundraising page off of CrowdRises’ site; earn your Grandma's Marathon Race weekend code; officially register to run using the following link to provide the code given to you by the charity, peggy@circleofhopeduluth.org
