Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Foundation announced Paige Wedan and Tawnee Lee, two law enforcement students currently attending the Cloquet college, were awarded Katie Poirier Memorial Law Enforcement Scholarships for 2017.
Wedan, of Superior and a 2013 graduate of Superior High School, earned an associate degree in law enforcement at FDLTCC in May and the law enforcement skills certificate program in June. Wedan hopes to work locally as a patrol officer and eventually become a homicide detective.
Lee, of Cloquet and a 2012 graduate of Cloquet Senior High School, completed the law enforcement skills certificate program in June at FDLTCC, where she is pursuing an associate degree in law enforcement. She plans to pursue a bachelor's degree and would like to enter the local workforce with a career goal to become a patrol officer.
The Katie Poirier Memorial Law Enforcement Scholarship was established to honor and remember Katie Poirier, a Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College student who had a career goal of becoming a law enforcement officer. Scholarship funds are provided by the Poirier family and the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Foundation in memory of Katie.
