  • Joe Kolar and M.M. "Red" Welshons yesterday announced their purchase of the Bellows, a well-known Duluth restaurant at 2230 London Road. They purchased the financially troubled, 90-seat restaurant from B & D Corp. for an undisclosed amount.
  • The Thunder Bay Rowing Club yesterday won the final event of the Duluth Invitational Regatta, defeating the Minnesota Boat Club of St. Paul. The Duluth club's most exciting win came in the open eight dash, where they beat the Minnesota Boat Club.

  • Park Point automobile owners yesterday petitioned the Duluth City Council for preference in using the Aerial Bridge car for trips across the canal between 5:30 and 7 p.m. The council referred the proposal to City Attorney J.B. Richards to determine its legality.
  • Two information booths will open today to assist the thousands of tourists who visit the Head of the Lakes during the summer months. One is on the corner of Fifth Avenue West and Superior Street and the other is in the lobby of the Spalding Hotel.
