  • The United States Steel Corporation has purchased 330 acres of land immediately east of its Morgan Park plant. The company is reportedly planning for several subsidiary plants in Duluth that would enable the production of a complete range of steel products.
  • The American flag will be unfurled and flown in every section of Duluth today in commemoration of the anniversary of its adoption. Mayor S.F. Snively has issued a proclamation urging all Duluthians to observe Flag Day by attending the ceremonies at the Armory.
  • The Duluth City Council yesterday approved a resolution providing a monthly appropriation of $50 for the Duluth Home Bureau. The Home Bureau provides information and training on subjects relating to home economics and also connects women with agencies that can assist them.
  • Virginia's City Hall grounds last night became the site of a tent city. The tents belong to about 150 members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs, delegates to the 69th annual convention which is being held in town this week.
