  • The city of Duluth is ordering all gas pumps removed from sidewalks in front of gasoline stations because they can obstruct movement of pedestrians. Station owners will meet with the City Council today to register their complaints regarding the new policy.
  • Today is registration day in Duluth, when all legal voters can register to vote in the March 12 primary election. More than 30,000 men and women are expected to register, based on the 32,139 voters who registered for the Nov. 2 general election.
  • The Duluth Board of Education later this week will consider installing a scientific lighting system at Bryant School on a trial basis. The system will distribute light evenly around classrooms so none of the students should experience eye strain because of poor lighting.
  • Every member of the Duluth Police Department will be taking a course in police efficiency starting next week. The three-hour course, taught by Lieut. John Englert, will cover all the duties involved in the everyday work of an officer.
