  • Bids for the construction of the New Garrick Theater in Hibbing will be called within a few days. The plans have already been drawn and show that Hibbing will have a playhouse equal to the best in the state.
  • Thirty-five janitors and engineers of the Duluth public schools were deputized as special policemen yesterday by Police Department officials. The men will be furnished with badges and will have the authority to arrest anyone damaging school property or causing any problems on school grounds.
  • Final plans have been drawn for the new Masonic and Odd Fellows temples to be erected in Moose Lake this spring. The Masonic structure will require an expenditure of about $8,500, while the Odd Fellows building will cost slightly less.
  • Local customs officials said yesterday the amount of goods being shipped to Duluth from foreign countries is nearing what it was before the war. A great deal of the material being shipped here is from the Asiatic countries, they said.
