  • A Twin Ports cocaine and opium ring was broken up by police yesterday with the arrest of Frank Insco in a raid at 1219 Fourth St. in Superior. Police said drugs worth thousands of dollars were confiscated in the raid.
  • An ordinance appropriating $150,000 from the public utilities fund to pay for construction of the Duluth Water & Light Department building across from the Post Office was approved yesterday by the City Council. Work on the building's foundation has already started.
  • A number of businesswomen, members of the Duluth Business and Professional Women's Club, have applied for membership in the Duluth Commercial Club. W.I. Prince, Commercial Club secretary, said yesterday the organization has never had women members but the topic has recently been under discussion.
  • A library bus system to serve rural districts of St. Louis County will be proposed at the next meeting of the St. Louis County Club. Plans include the operation of eight library buses to give rural residents an opportunity to obtain reading material.
