March is “money” month at the Duluth Children’s Museum, 115 S. 29th Ave. West. Here are a number of programs offered at the museum children to learn more about the world around them.
Groovin’ with Grandma
Join volunteer Lauren as she teaches with sound and music at 10:30 a.m. March 11 and 25.
Toddler Time: Let’s Go Shopping
The play store is open and it’s time to go on a play shopping trip. Children will spend play money, learn about how to use it, where it goes and how to count it. Let’s Go Shopping begins at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and March 18, as well as every Thursday.
Storytime Surprise
Every storytime is different, but rest assured it will be a story with extra fun like songs or an art project. This month story highlights include books about athletics and sports. Storytime Surprise begins at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Afternoon Adventure: Cash, Checks, Coins and Cards
Curious about the different ways there are to spend money? Investigate anti-counterfeiting measures on U.S. currency, practice filling out a check and learn about the hidden math behind credit card numbers beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Dino Labs
Come to Dino Labs to learn about how paleontologists use evidence from fossils to discover fascinating facts about dinosaurs beginning at 3 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays.
Blast From the Past: Money Around the World
In 83 years of operation, the Duluth Children’s Museum has gathered a large collection of historical artifacts. Every weekend, discover a different artifact. This month, the focus is on the museum’s collection of currency from around the globe. Blast From the Past is held at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
Space Science Sunday: Budget for Space
