The City of Duluth Park Maintenance Division began site preparation work on the Endion Ledges section of the Lakewalk Tuesday, May 26. Site work is taking place between 23rd-25th Avenues East. City crews are cutting some brush, moving large rock into place, removing some old construction debris and generally preparing the site.
Saturday morning, May 30, from 9 a.m. until its completion, volunteers are invited to assist in spreading and tamping gravel and finishing the footpath. Volunteers are asked to park in the Edgewater Motel parking lot and to walk to the worksite, as there is little parking available in that region of the Lakewalk.
Volunteers wanting to help on Saturday morning should contact Judy Gibbs at 218-391-0886 or e-mail gibbsjudy@aol.com .
The completion of the foot trail will ensure the public's continued access of the site until the permanent, paved Lakewalk can be constructed from roughly 21st Avenue East to 26th Avenue East. The Lakewalk will undergo another extension from 36th Avenue East to 47th Avenue East later this summer.
