- Federal authorities in Duluth yesterday announced seven new indictments charging conspiracy to smuggle whiskey into the United States from Canada. The indictments follow the confiscation of 146 cases of whiskey alleged to have been brought to Duluth by gasoline launch and automobile.
- Duluth public schools will be officially opened to students Sept. 8, it was announced yesterday. A census of the children of school age in the city is presently being taken by canvassers under the direction of Arthur Ringsred, school board business manager.
- The city steam shovel in use on Raleigh Street will move to Grand Avenue next week to begin work on the $100,000 improvement from 59th to 84th avenues west. Work on Grand Avenue will be difficult because of the heavy traffic.
- Arrangements have been completed for the Aug. 9 appearance at the Duluth Armory of Mrs. Fiske in her delightful new comedy success, "Mis' Nelly of N' Orleans." The entire New York production, with a cast of unusual excellence, will be brought here intact.
