- A shortage of teachers still exists in Duluth schools despite the hiring of 12 teachers after the school year commenced. Superintendent R.A. Kent said yesterday the shortage was caused by the opening of several new schools this year.
- Voters, both men and women, crowded Duluth's polling places last evening to register to vote in the Oct. 4 special election. City Clerk Fred Ash estimated that the compilation today will show the heaviest registration in the city's history.
- Funeral services for Pvt. Walter J. Taylor, a Virginia boy who died while serving in several campaigns with the American forces in Germany, will be held tomorrow afternoon in Virginia. Pvt. Taylor's body arrived yesterday from New York.
- By a unanimous vote in Buhl yesterday, 2,000 acres of ore property with a valuation of $5 million were transferred inside the Buhl city limits. Owners of the property contested the move because of the higher valuation that will be placed on the land.
