  • Several revolver shots were exchanged early yesterday morning between a bandit and C.T. Quigley, proprietor of the St. Marie Grocery Store, 1621 Woodland Ave., when the robber forced his way into the store. No one was hit, and the robber fled to a waiting auto.
  • Twenty-three men were arrested and charged with gambling by Superior police in a raid on the Douglas Hotel, 314 Tower Ave., at midnight last night. Three poker games were going when Detectives Ole Peterson and Martin Widness entered the hotel.
  • The Duluth chapter of the Polish Red Cross, led by Mrs. F.J. Lepak, president, has collected and shipped $12,000 worth of clothing, soap, and other provisions to needy persons in Poland. The Duluth chapter has about 500 members.
  • Efforts will be starting soon to plan for a new building to house the rapidly increasing number of people wanting to enroll in the Superior Vocational Training School. The number of students accepted is curtailed by the limited capacity of the current building.
