- Public Utilities Commissioner P.G. Phillips said yesterday Duluth will distribute its street lighting program funds equally across the city. Mr. Phillips said all parts of the city will receive improvements and spots that need light the most will be the first attended to.
- Superior was a mecca yesterday for hunters, with hundreds arriving from all parts of Wisconsin and heading for their hunting camps in Douglas County. Nearly 4,000 licenses have been issued in the county and more hunters are expected this year than in any previous year.
- After a month of working to obtain an adequate supply of coal for West Duluth residents, members of the citizens' coal committee said yesterday they are disappointed. City officials said West Duluth is not getting the coal it was promised by coal operators.
- Robert B. McLean, an area pioneer who has lived in Superior for over 66 years, recently observed his 88th birthday. Mr. McLean, who landed on the beach of what is now Superior on June 10, 1854, has many recollections of early Superior history.
