North Shore Horizons, Lake County's Domestic and Sexual Violence service provider, is gearing up for its 18th annual Taste of the North celebration at Superior Shores Resort on Thursday,

April 11, from 6-8 p.m.

Taste of the North includes up to 13 restaurants, local brewery selections, a silent action, raffle and and "Heads and Tails" game. In addition to the live music, there is also the presentation of the Community Impact Award, which honors a local person, business or organization that goes above and beyond to support individuals and families in Lake County.

All proceeds go toward supporting the agency's services: personal and legal advocacy, education, outreach, housing, resource and referral, a 24-hour hotline and more.

"It always amazes me that year after year, so many businesses, clubs and individuals step up to the plate by volunteering their wares, time, skills and effort in order to assure that Lake County residents have access to the information and services necessary to make their community a safer and healthier place to live," Jean Sewell, executive director of North Shore Horizons, said in a news release.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased from any board member or at 127 Seventh St., Two Harbors.

In 2018, North Shore Horizons served 1,168 individuals through educational, outreach and direct service programs.
