What has this storm system done so far? The Plains were hit hard on Wednesday as the system moved north. Several inches of snow fell on Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming and Kansas. The National Weather Service's Sioux Falls, S.D., office called the storm "life-threatening."
When will the storm arrive? Snow should be falling by early today and is expected to continue through Friday.
How much snow will we get? 8 to 18 inches are forecast for the Northland. Areas of higher elevation near Lake Superior could get more.

Will plows be out on Christmas? If it snows as hard as predicted through Christmas, it may be impossible at times for plow drivers to keep up. But it's nice to know that they're out there trying to keep the roadways and runways clear.
