With temperatures dipping in the Twin Ports, the Duluth Transit Authority will once again provide free rides to warming shelters this winter.
The bus service on Tuesday began providing free rides to the overnight shelter Ruth House, 632 Grand Ave., Superior, according to a news release from the DTA. Those traveling to the Superior shelter should take Route 16.
The DTA will on Wednesday, Nov. 4, begin providing free rides to warming centers in Duluth. The free rides to the various centers are available from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m.
The Duluth warming center City Center West, 5830 Grand Ave., is open on evenings when the temperature falls below 32 degrees. Those traveling to the West Duluth warming center can use routes 1, 2, 3 and 5.
The CHUM Drop-In Center, 125 N. First Ave. W., Duluth, is open all hours of the day and the DTA's free ride program applies to that location as well.
“The DTA is proud to be part of the team making this important warming shelter effort possible once again,” DTA General Manager Phil Pumphrey said in the news release.
