Duluth airport sees increase in passengers
The Duluth International Airport saw a 13 percent increase in passengers who flew through its facility in 2018 compared to 2017.
In 2018, 280,865 passengers flew through the Duluth International Airport, according to a news release. Both United and Delta saw increases in 2018, with United’s addition of its airbus flight in May leading to a nearly 30 percent increase year-over-year.
“We’re so grateful for the support our passengers showed this past year. Their decision to fly local has a major impact on attracting additional air service,” said Tom Werner, executive director for the Duluth International Airport. “Increased passenger demand helps us add carriers and routes that increase competition. All of which helps give our local economy a boost and lower fares for all travelers.”
American Airlines is set to begin two direct flights to Chicago on May 23, and there have been talks of adding a direct flight to Denver.
