The economy may have faltered in many respects, but at least one organization is expanding its operations in Duluth. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans just opened a new office at 629 W. Central Entrance near the Stone Ridge Shopping Center.

The organization employs 13 financial representatives and

assistants in Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin.

The new Duluth office initially will employ two people, but Bill Reichwald, a managing partner for Thrivent, said he expects to hire eight more financial representatives to work out of the facility by the end of this year. He predicts the Duluth office will add still another eight people in 2010, bringing a total of 16 new employees into the mix.

Thrivent is a Fortune 500 financial services group that boasts 2.6 million members. It's a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to help members achieve their financial goals and give back to their communities.
