After nearly five years of selling baked goods and coffee, Lake Superior Bakehouse will close its storefront downtown at the end of the year.
Owners Katina Petsoulis and Logan Kerkhof are retiring the coffee side of their business to focus more on what they love: baking. Following the cafe closure, the couple will bake for weddings, catering, wholesale and special occasions, according to an announcement on the cafe's website.
"We are excited to explore new baking projects and engage with our community in new, unique ways in the future," the post said.
The business will close Oct. 26 and remain closed for the month of November as the couple prepares for the transition. The storefront will reopen with limited hours in December for special orders during the holiday season. Those hours will be announced at the end of October.
For those looking for other ways to get their dose of Bakehouse goods, the business will continue to do custom orders, pop ups and events following the final storefront closure.
