The Red Herring Lounge in downtown Duluth is for sale, but owner Bob Monahan says he has no immediate plans to close the bar and music venue in downtown Duluth.
Red Herring owner Bob Monahan said he listed the building at 208 E. First St. simply “to explore what the market would bear.”
“I’m not selling the building,” Monahan said Thursday afternoon. “I have no plans to close the Red Herring imminently.”
Monahan also said a party had expressed interest in the building, and that led him to explore the idea of selling. He declined to identify that party.
“If the money was right, I would consider selling it, or selling the business,” he said.
In October, Monahan laid off his entire staff amid “rather intense financial distress.”
The lounge opened in 2014 and has brought a wide variety of acts to Duluth, including at the Super Big Block Party that launched in 2015.
Greg Follmer Commercial Real Estate said Thursday the red-brick building is being listed for $275,000 and would be “great for many uses.”
