After announcing it was closing for good in December, Island Lake Inn reopened recently under new management - that happens to include its original owner.

The business, located along County Highway 4 on the north side of Island Lake, reopened April 16 and plans to host a grand re-opening celebration all day Friday, with live music by The Northwood’s Band beginning at 9 p.m. Friday.

No changes to the business are planned, said Jeri Swanstrom, who purchased the business with Kathy Watters. Swanstrom owned the Island Lake Inn with her husband Steve since 1974 before selling the business a couple times and then buying it back.

“This time, I chose to come back to run it right and clean it up. We’re going to run it the way it used to be,” Swanstrom said. “I’ve been in the bar business for 45 years. I thought that was way enough. I don’t know if I had a weak moment or what, but I couldn’t stand to see a ghost.”
