Indiana Harbor
The Indiana Harbor arrives in Duluth in March 2010. Expected to arrive in Duluth again this afternoon to load coal, the Indiana Harbor was launched in 1979 and was the ninth 1,000-footer built for Great Lakes service. It also was the first U.S.-flagged Great Lakes vessel to have a satellite communications system, which was installed in 1983. In 1998, the ship set the record for the largest cargo to move through the Soo Locks -- 69,528 tons of iron ore pellets. Photo by Jessica Buhs
