A drive-thru Caribou Coffee is coming soon to U.S. Highway 53 in Superior.
Construction is underway at the corner of East Second Street and 22nd Avenue East, across the highway from Super One Foods in Superior's East End in place of the former Old Town Bar. The coffee shop is expected to open in August, according to Caribou Coffee media relations.
An online job posting for a full-time assistant manager promotes the new location, saying, "Join our growing Caribou Cabin leadership team at our new drive-thru only location — opening soon in Superior, WI!" No job openings for baristas or cashiers have been posted at this time.
The Caribou Cabin model has smaller buildings than the standard stores — about 600 square feet. It will offer exclusively drive-thru or walk-up services.
This will be Superior's first Caribou Coffee location, and the first Caribou Cabin model in the Twin Ports. There are six Caribou Coffee locations in Duluth, and the University of Wisconsin-Superior brews Caribou Coffee at Jacket Java in the YellowJacket Union.
